The Scientific and Educational Center for Problems of Mining and Metallurgical Machinery of the Dnipro University of Technology was created on the initiative of the rector of the university, academician of the NAS of Ukraine, Professor Pivnyak G.G. according to the order № 313 of September 28, 2010. The Scientific and Educational Center operates based on its Statute, approved by the orders of the Director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. named after A.M. Podgorny of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Yu. M. Matsevitov and the Rector of the Dnipro University of Technology, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine G.G. Pivnyak.

The Center is actively involved in the research of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering named after A.M. Podgorny of the NAS of Ukraine.

The main activities of the Center:

1) retraining and advanced training in the field of mining and metallurgical engineering of specialists with higher education and scientific and pedagogical staff of higher qualification with the participation of leading specialists of the NAS of Ukraine;

2) organizing, coordinating and conducting joint scientific research, facilitating the implementation of scientific developments of the Dnipro University of Technology and the Institute of Mechanical Engineering named after A.M. Podgorny in production;

3) forecasting, development of joint target programs, substantiation of prospects and priority directions of development of mining and metallurgical engineering, alternative energy sources;

4) organization and coordination of international scientific and technical cooperation with higher educational establishments and scientific institutions of foreign countries in the directions of the main activity of the Center;

5) preparation and holding of joint scientific conferences, symposia, seminars;

6) information support for scientific and educational activities of the Dnipro University of Technology and the Institute of Mechanical Engineering named after A.M. Podgorny;

7) cooperation with industrial organizations, enterprises, research institutes and other enterprises and organizations of various forms of ownership, including foreign ones, for the fulfillment of the tasks of the Center.

Current tasks

1. Engaging employees of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering named after A.M. Podgorny to perform research work according to the plans of the research part of the Dnipro University of Technology, writing and publication of scientific articles, monographs, textbooks, methodological recommendations, conducting lectures with students of the 3^rd and the 4^th courses of the speciality "Engineering Mechanics" and master students.

2. Conducting internships for postgraduate students, doctoral students and advanced training of other scientific and pedagogical staff of the Dnipro University of Technology based on the Institute of Mechanical Engineering named after A.M. Podgorny.

3. Joint development of information materials that highlight the scientific potential of the Dnipro University of Technology and the Institute of Mechanical Engineering named after A.M. Podgorny, for placement in domestic and foreign media, databases, etc.

4. Joint participation of the Dnipro University of Technology and the Institute of Mechanical Engineering named after A.M. Podgorny in the work of the center of commercialization of technologies and results of basic and applied scientific studies.

5. Organization of cooperation in the field of production of small series of high-tech products at the enterprises of machine-building, mining-metallurgical and energy industries.
