Department of underground mining

Head of the department is Bondarenko Vladimir Iljich, mining engineer, Doctor of technical science, professor, member of the Engineering Sciences Academy of Ukraine, the winner of the state premium of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, Honored scientist and engineer of Ukraine. He is an author of two discoveries in the field of mining science.

The department was founded by academician O.M. Terpigoriev for training experts in underground mining in 1900.

Students are taught according to direction "Mining" of specialty “Development of Mineral Deposits”, specializations: “Underground Exploration of Mineral Resources” and “Technology of Exploration of Ore Deposits”.

The qualifying levels of studying are bachelor, expert, and master.

Educational process is provided by 10 Doctors of technical science, professors, 14 candidates of technical science, 2 senior lecturers, 3 assistants. In total at the Department there are 42 persons, including scientists and personnel.

A long-term connection of the department with mining enterprises of Ukraine allows to provide students with places for arranging educational and industrial practices, and also their further employment.

At the department there is a postgraduate study on the following scientific specialties:

  • Underground mining of mineral deposits;
  • Physical processes of mining.

Scientific activity is carried out on such directions:

  • Development of electrochemical, physical-chemical and jet technologies of quicksand and weak water fastening of the sated breeds near mining shafts;
  • Mining of coal deposits by the method of underground gasification based on thermochemical processes and complex use of products of gasification;
  • Design of soft environments constructions and technology development of their application in mining;
  • Computer technology of the forecast of geomechanical processes in a mining massif;
  • Technology of underground mining in difficult hydrogeological and geological conditions.
