Department of transport systems and technologies

Head of the Department is Shirin Leonid Nikiforovich, mining engineer - technologist, Doctor of technical science, professor, Distinguished Educator of Ukraine.

The department was founded in 1922 by academicians A.A.Spivakovskiy and N.S.Poljakov - outstanding figures of mining science in the field of mine transport.

Now the department conducts a cycle of disciplines for preparation of students on directions "Mining", " the Engineering mechanics ", "Electrical engineering", "Electromechanics", "Transport technologies ".

Educational process is provided by 5 doctors of technical sciences, professors, 7 candidates of technical sciences, assistant professors. In total at the department there are 17 persons, including science officers and the attendants.

Through postgraduate and doctoral studies the department carries out preparation of higher qualification experts on specialties:

• Mining machines;
  
• Underground mining of minerals deposits;
  
• Management of projects and processes of manufacture.
  

The basic directions of scientific activity of the department:

• optimization of parameters of mine locomotives of new generation;
  
• technical diagnosing of traction bodies of tape conveyors;
  
• improvement of calculation methods of dynamic processes of electrohydrodynamical systems of above-soil rope roads;
  
• logistic of mine freight traffics.
