Department of Mining Mechanics

Head of the department is Vladimir Illich Samusya, mining engineer electrician-mechanic, doctor of engineering science, professor, academician of Winder-Transport Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, corresponding member of Academy of Mining Sciences of Ukraine.

A department was formed in 1930.

At the Department the training of specialists in specialty “Mining equipment” of specialization “Energy mechanical complexes of mining production” is done.

Graduation levels: bachelor, specialist, master.

The educational process is provided by 2 professors, doctor of engineering science, 9 senior lecturers, candidates of engineering science, 7 senior teachers and assistants. In total there are 29 persons, including the science officers and assistant personnel.

The long-term cooperation of the department with mines provides bases for student practice in an educational process and their further employment.

There are post-graduate and doctorate courses on specialty "Mining machines" at the department.

Basic directions of scientific activity of the department:

• advancing of equipment and computational methods of power-mechanical complexes of mines;
  
• designing of mobile winding units for emergency-saving works;
  
• control of a microclimate of steep mines;
  
• designing and perfecting of systems of hydraulic mine transport;
  
• elaboration of ways and means of hoisting mineral resources from a floor of World ocean.
