The head of the Department – Franchuk Vsevolod Petrovych, Honored Worker of Science and Engineering of Ukraine, full member of branch Academies of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor, Doctor of Sciences (in engineering), Director of the Educational Center of ÑÀD/ÑÀÌ/ÑÀÅ/ÐDÌ and CALS technologies.
Contacts:
In the Engineering Mechanics direction, specialty Technology of Machine-Building, the department trains specialists in the following specializations:
- Design, Production and Operation of Mining Extracting Equipment;
- Design, Production and Operation of Mineral Dressing Equipment;
- Project Management of Mining Equipment;
- Computer Technologies of Mining Equipment Design.
Degrees provided: Bachelor, Specialist, and Master.
The teaching staff consists of five professors and sixteen associate professors who teach equipment engineering for extraction and refinement of minerals at underground, open and underwater conditions. In other words they train future engineers how to design, investigate and create machines using new computer technologies granted by SolidWorks Corporation (http://www.solidworks.ru/swr-academy/VUZ_spisok/Ukraine/). The teaching lessons are based on the modern Conception of Engineer Preparation using virtual SolidWorks technologies (http://www.solidworks.ru/news/news_archive/2009/ 2009_8/). Students can obtain international certifications in the two educational centers of Department: Authorized Teaching Center of SolidWorks Russia (http://www.solidworks.ru/swr-academy/) and Educational Center of ÑÀD/ÑÀÌ/ÑÀÅ/ÐDÌ and CALS technologies (organized by order of Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, ¹ 135 on Feb. 27, 2006). According to the agreement between National Mining University and SolidWorks Corporation (USA) the Department became the CSWA Provider and took a central place of innovative SolidWorks technologies among domestic schools, institutes and businesses.
Our graduates are not only highly educated Mechanical Engineers but also true experts in the fields of computer aided design, industrial design, project management and engineering of mechanical equipment.
Department post-graduate and doctorate courses provide scientific guidance according to the specialties Mining Machines and Dynamics and Durability of Machines on the following directions:
- Development of vibratory technique, advanced technologies for processing and mechanical activation of industrial raw materials obtaining new products properties, also the cryogenic technology of elastomer waste processing;
- Technology and equipment of gas-thermal (explosive) treatment of machine details;
- Development of ecologically mild methods and technologies for the underwater production of solid minerals from the floor of rivers, seas or oceans;
- Parameter optimization of mechanical equipment using modern methods of computer modeling and numerical experimentation;
- Theory development of progressive methods of mineral production and increase firmness of the excavation, etc.
