Department of Structural, Engineering and Applied Mechanics

Head of the Department is Sergey Evgenjevich Blokhin, Doctor of Science, professor.

The department was formed in 1907.

The department is basic on construction and theoretical mechanics for highest schools of Pridneprovsky region. On its base scientific and methodical conferences, seminars, olympiads (including the international level) are carried out.

Educational process of the department is provided by 2 Doctors of Science, 6 Candidates of Science (associate professors) and 4 assistants.

Lecturers of the department deliver lectures on:

• theoretical mechanics,
  
• resistance of materials,
  
• building mechanics,
  
• technical mechanics,
  

These are basic disciplines for the students.

More than 15 years on the base of the department the branch research laboratory of dynamics and durability of bearing designs of artificial constructions of the mining-metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine has been functioning.

Directions of scientific activity of the department:

• Development of the theory and methods of calculation of the stressed-deformed conditions of flexible composite systems with the distributed parameters;
  
• Perfection of methods of calculating bearing elements of artificial constructions of the mining-metallurgical enterprises, development of actions. Providing of the increase of durability and safety of operating of designs.
