Department of Philosophy

Head of the Department is Yulia Olexandrivna SHABANOVA, Candidate of Philosophic Science, Professor. Member of International Theosophical society, scientific secretary of Dnipropetrovsk Philosophical Society named after G. Zaichenko.

The Department of Philosophy was established in 1962.

At the Department the following courses are taught:

• Philosophy;
  
• History of Philosophy;
  
• Logic;
  
• Rhetoric;
  
• Ethics;
  
• Aesthetics;
  
• Dialectical and Historic Materialism;
  
• History of Sciences about State and Law;
  
• Religion Science;
  
• Ukrainian and Foreign Culture;
  
• Psychology.
  

The educational process is provided by 5 doctors of science, 1 candidate of science, 6 senior teachers. Totally there are 28 members at the department.

By the Department there has been established the Center of Aesthetic Development. The directions of its activities are:

• Extra-curriculum education work with students;
  
• Dissemination of cultural and aesthetic knowledge about the activity of Dnipropetrovsk representatives of culture;
  
• Development of higher educational establishments and inter-state scientific and theoretical exchange with new sociocultural vision of modern problems;
  
• Performance of concert and lecture activity.
  

At the department the training of post-graduate students in specialty “History of Philosophy” is carried out.

Main directions of scientific activity of the department:

• Issues of spiritualism in a world philosophy of reflex;
  
• Philosophical problems of science;
  
• Aesthetic and culturological aspects of world comprehension.
