Department of History and Political Theory

Head of the department is Victor Yukhymovych Pushkin, graduator from the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University, Candidate of Historical Science, Professor. Honored Educator of Ukraine, correspondent member of the Ukrainian Academy of Historical Sciences.

The Department was founded in January, 1939.

At present the following disciplines are taught:

• History of Ukraine;
  
• Political Science;
  
• Social Science;
  
• Sociology of Law;
  
• History of State and Law of Ukraine;
  
• Economic History of Foreign Countries;
  
• the Ukrainian Language for Professional Needs;
  
• the Ukrainian Language;
  
• Language Culture and Stylistics Basis; Modern Ukrainian Literature.
  

The educational process is provided by 6 professors and 13 candidates of sciences. There work 34 people at the department including scientists and assisting personnel.

Within the structure of the Department there is Folk Museum of NMU named after Olexandr Pol. On the basis of the Department there are the Center of Culture of the Ukrainian Language named after Oles Gonchar and 6 student clubs.

At the Department there function post-graduate course and doctorate course in specialties “History of Ukraine”.

Main directions of scientific works of the Department:

• implementations of new study technology on the basis of Institute of Humanitarian Problems elaborations;
  
• research of social adaptation problems and political activeness of student youth;
  
• study of history and culture of Pridniprovye;
  
• training of analytical materials on the issues of political life of modern Ukraine and Region.
