Department of higher mathematics

The Department is headed by Sdvizhkova Olena Oleksandrivna - doctor of technical science, professor.

Department was founded in 1913.

Students of specializations as: «Mining», «Geology», «Ecology», «Computer Science», «Engineering mechanics», «Electrical engineering», «Computer systems, automation and management», «Electromechanics», «Automation and Computer Integrated Technologies», «Information Safety» are taught at the Department.

Higher Mathematics is the basis of special education of Bachelors. It linear and vector algebra and geometry, differential and integral calculus, series and differential equations.

The teaching staff of the Department consists of 7 professors (3 doctors of technical and physical-mathematical science), 11 candidates of physical-mathematical and technical science, assistant professors, 6 lecturers, 6 senior lecturers. The total number of the staff is 33 workers.

The Department has post-graduate course on the following specializations:

• Physical process of mining production;
  
• Rock and soil mechanics.
  

Main directions of scientific and research activities:

• geomechanics and statistical one;
  
• rock and soil mechanics
  
• mechanics of anisotropical substances;
  
• stability of solving differential equations;
  
• approximate methods of solving integral and differential equations with the coefficient of degree type;
  
• physical properties of ferroelectrics and ferroelastic.
