Department of hydrogeology and engineering geology

The head of the department is Sadovenko Ivan Oleksandrovych, mining engineer-geologist, doctor of engineering science, professor, Honored Scientist and Engineer of Ukraine, winner of the State premium of Ukraine in the field of science and engineering.

The department was established in 1935.

Now the department trains hydrogeologists on direction "Geology" with specialty “Hydrogeology” according to specializations:

• Hydrogeology and engineering geology;
  
• Engineering hydrogeoecology.
  

3 doctors of sciences, professors, 7 candidates of sciences, senior lecturers are involved in the educational process and scientific activity of the department. Totally there are 20 employees.

The department develops international cooperation, maintains scientific and contacts with firms and production enterprises.

The training of candidates of science at the department is carried by two specialties:

• Hydrogeology;
  
• Physical processes of mining.
  

Directions of scientific activity of the faculty are:

• dynamics of underground waters, rock mechanics and grounds;
  
• hydrogeoecology and ecological safety;
  
• engineering security of territories.
