Faculty of Geological Prospecting

Dean of the faculty is Vasiliy Fedorovich Prikhodchenko mining engineer-geologist, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor.

The training of mining engineers-geologists began in 1918 at the Geological faculty, which was opened at Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute. Later it was transformed into the Geological and Mine-Surveying Faculty and then in the Geological Prospecting Faculty.

Now the faculty includes 10 departments:

• Geology and Mineral Prospecting;
  
• Geophysical Methods of Mineral Prospecting;
  
• Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology;
  
• Mineralogy and Petrography;
  
• General and Structural Geology;
  
• Mineral Prospecting Technology;
  
• Gemology;
  
• Geoinformation Systems;
  
• Higher Mathematics;
  
• Chemistry.
  

As well as Geological and Mineralogical Museum, Gemological Center with a laboratory for processing mineral raw materials.

The Faculty gives background training in the following directions:
