Department of Mine Surveying

Head of the Department is Yuriy Mykhailovych Khalimendik, mining engineer-surveyor, Doctor of Technical Science, Professor. |
The Department was founded on the basis of theoretical surveying art cabinet, which existed from the foundation of Yekaterinoslav Higher Mining School - since 1899.
The Department trains specialists on speciality “Mine Surveying” according to three educational levels: 6.090307 - bachelor, 7.090307 - specialist and 8.090307 – master.
The teaching staff consists of 4 doctors of engineering science, 3 candidates of engineering science, associate professors. There are 24 men including the laboratory assistants.
The Department trains specialists of highest qualification on post-graduate and doctorate-courses in engineering science on speciality “Mine Surveying”.
The basic trends of scientific activity of the Department:
- surface displacement under influence of harmful influence of mining developments;
- improvement of surveying techniques;
- mineral deposit geometrization;
- probabilistic-statistical methods in geomechanics, while estimating and accounting the losses of useful mineral;
- geomechanical substantiation of supporting mining developments and increasing coal extraction with minimum losses.
